“Haute Bamboo” Series of Furniture in Collaboration of Bo Reudler and Olav Bruin - - Planned to be Exhibited at the Milan Design Week 2010

Bamboo has been used for hundreds of years as a material for furniture. In fact most tribal societies use bamboos even today for furniture and also home building. With that in mind, Dutch Designer, Bo Reudler has collaborated with bamboo architect Olav Bruin in order to come up with a series of furniture called “Haute Bamboo”.

Bamboo is a great source of renewable resource and can be used safely without causing damage to the environment. Moreover, it is also considered the poor man’s timber. Thanks to mutation in the bamboo plant, you can notice the strange bulbous shapes on the bamboo sticks. Using these ideas and factors, the duo created a range of beautiful furniture which are unparalleled in the modern furniture design and concept.

They have coated the furniture with glossy black linseed-oil paint and it also hints at eastern lacquered furniture. All these furniture made of bamboo are handmade and are environmentally friendly. Though the material may be cheap, it is quite difficult to create furniture that looks as haute couture as these. They would be exhibited at the Milan Design Week 2010.
