Salma Hayek, the Mexican-born Hollywood star and Oscar nominee for Best Actress, accepted in an interview for an entertainment magazine to have remained as an illegal immigrant in the United States; but it was just a small span of time.
The actress admitted, “I was an illegal immigrant in the United States. It was for a small period of time, but I still did it.
She further stated, "I had to suffer the worst time of all in terms of racial discrimination in Hollywood when I first started out. It was inconceivable to American directors and producers that a Mexican woman could have a lead role.”
Obviously, after Salma Hayek moved to LA in 1991 to study acting, her visa expired and she became an unlawful foreigner. Hayek's agent has mentioned that her visa situation was rapidly fixed.
