THE VMAs ARE BACK!!! The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards aired live Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. A cast of pop stars will pay homage to both the recently deceased Amy Winehouse and the recently resurgent Britney Spears. The two are among the most important female artists of the past decade, and represent the two very different versions of MTV.
Tony Bennett, whose duet with Winehouse that appears on his upcoming "Duets II" album and is the last recording she made before her death, will introduce the tribute. MTV and Bennett have released a statement detailing that the tribute would feature a debut video of Bennett's and Winehouse's recording session at the Abbey Road Studios in London.
