“DALEK” Costume From the Popular TV Series “Dr Who” - - Created by Uwe Oehler And His Son Chris

Wearing scary costumes and attending costume parties, going for ghost tours, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories are the way most of the people choose to celebrate Halloween. But, Uwe Oehler and his son Chris have a little different way of celebrating the festival. The father and son team make Halloween costume each year and this year they created a “DALEK” from the popular TV series “Dr Who”.

Standing some 5 feet tall, the DALEK flaunts a plywood and discarded cardboard boxes base, solid cardboard disk shoulders, cardboard neck and head. Apart from using discarded cardboard boxes, some acrylic or spray paint, and a roll of tape like they usually do, this year the Oehlers also used styrofoam balls and some caster wheels for making this piece the most ambitious costume yet.

Original Darth Vader Costume up for Auction - - Worn by Darth Vader in the Second Installment of the Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back in 1980

This would probably be the coolest Halloween costume ever! You would think that it is not all that uncommon to see people wearing the Darth Vader costume. But this one is very special. This costume was actually worn by Darth Vader in the second installment of the Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back in 1980.

Neil Roberts, head of the popular culture department at Christie’s went on to say that: ”Darth Vader is defined by his costume, which has made him one of the most recognized characters from the history of film. The global appeal of the Star Wars films, and the interest that the series has attracted from a number of generations, is perhaps unprecedented in the world of cinema. Christie’s have sold some incredible relics from popular culture in the past from Dorothy’s red slippers from The Wizard Of Oz to a dress made for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s; arguably the Darth Vader costume is the most iconic of all.”

Now a bit of trivia; Dave Prowse played the role of Darth Vader but James Earl Jones provided the voice. This original costume is expected to raise about £230,000 at the auctioned being held next month. A part of the proceed will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
