“Surreal Collages”: Clustered Plastic Toys in The 20/20 Series by Lucas Mongiello
Bright colored plastic toys were an integral part of my childhood, similar toys are now featured in the 20/20 series by Lucas Mongiello. Displayed in cases normally reserved for dead birds, he showcases these childhood companions in what he described as “surreal collages.”
Lucas Mongiello invokes a sense of nostalgia through his works as his series makes use of many different figures that could relate to a wide variety of people. I spotted a Power Ranger action figure that instantly sent my mind whirling back to the 90s.
Take a look at Lucas Mongiello’s 20/20 series and see what childhood memories you’ll stumble upon.

RC Glow in the Dark Helicopter: Super Stable Tiny Fun Stuff - - With An Auto-balance System And Adjustable Speed Control
This RC Glow in the Dark Helicopter makes perfect sense. Because if there’s one thing you need while flying a fragile complex radio controlled craft indoors, it’s to turn all the lights off. Hey, at least once you’re done you can go back to watching TV. Price includes 1 pint tub of glue and a stapler.
Unlike previous generations of two channel helicopters, the three-channel system means that the helicopter can be flown under complete control, and piloted forwards and backwards, as well as up and down and left and right with the minimum of effort. With an auto-balance system and adjustable speed control, this tiny helicopter is super stable and goes exactly where you want it to.
Okiku Doll: A Bizzare Toy - - Amazingly The Hair of The Doll Continues to Grow Over the Years
The Okiku Doll is one very bizarre toy. Unlike dolls that can be fed and burped, this doll’s hair continues to grow!

Legend has it that, in 1918, the doll was purchased by a young man who planned to gift it for his baby sister, Okiku. His sister loved the doll and was seen playing with it every day until she died of a cold the following year. The family kept the Okiku Doll on their altar and prayed to it.
After some time, they discovered the doll’s hair had grown, and thus concluded that the spirit of Okiku resided within the toy. Since then, the Okiku Doll has made its home at Mannenji temple and still no one can explain the doll’s hair growth.
According to the temple, the traditional doll initially had short cropped hair, but over time it has grown to about 25 centimeters (10 in) long, down to the doll’s knees. Although the hair is periodically trimmed, it reportedly keeps growing back.1955 Prototype of a Matchbox Lesney Dumper Truck Fetched An Amazing $15,000 - - The Auction Took Place at Harrogate, North Yorks
If you were wondering how you could add something to your arsenal that would fetch thousands of dollars many years later, you should try and build a matchbox model of something that you like. You would be surprised to learn that a rare 1955 prototype of a Matchbox Lesney dumper truck fetched an amazing $15,000.
It remained a miniature model and was never manufactured in real. It was on sale at the Harrogate. Apparently, the aged owner Mr. Yoshise decided to sell it before he kicked the bucket, to someone younger so that the matchbox model would not go to the soil along with him. An anonymous bidder announced that he would pay $15.053 and thus won the bid. The auction took place at Harrogate, North Yorks.
The auction also marked the Matchbox Club’s 25th and final annual convention. If you are good at building matchbox models, build a good one. Who knows when you are about to die and would like to leave something behind for your child, you could give the matchbox model and ask your left-behinds to sell it in an auction and try and make some money.
AK47 Aqua Fire - - Let Your Kids Welcome the Summer And Have Great Fun

No idea on whether this is superior to Super Soakers that eat up “ammo” extremely fast, but for £19.99, it ought to let them have a taste of what Iraq and Afghanistan is like, shooting out four ‘bullets’ of water per second. A full ‘clip’ is able to last for around one minute, and you can reload by using the removable water cartridge for minimal delay.
