It's a great time for women to direct movies: Eva Mendes

Actress Eva Mendes, who made her directorial debut with "California Romanza", feels this is the right time for women to turn director.

Mendes showed her movie starring Christina Ricci at the annual Glamour Reel Moments event in Los Angeles earlier this year, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"I loved the whole experience. I believe we need more women behind the camera. This year, with Kathryn Bigelow winning an Oscar (for 'Hurt Locker') and Angelina Jolie directing a film, it's a great time for women to step behind the camera," she said.

"I certainly felt very empowered by it when I made my film. It's about time we heard more women's voices and points of view in cinema because it's a male-dominated industry. It's starting to equal out a bit, though, which is exciting."

Jackman injured on the sets of Winfrey show

Actor Hugh Jackman injured himself when a stunt he was performing for the Oprah Winfrey's show went wrong.

The "X-Men" star flew straight into a light fitting while coming down with a zip wire while shooting at the Opera House in Sydney as part of the Winfrey's special edition of the programme in Australia.

He smashed into the lights injuring one of his eyes. He was seen pressing a towel against the affected area and was later treated by paramedics, reports thesun.co.uk.

The Sydney-born actor insisted he got "overexcited" and distracted by the famous view of the Harbour Bridge on his trip down from the tip of the Opera House.

'I'll never get married'

Eva Mendes has revealed that walking down the aisle does not appeal to her.

The actress, who has been with her partner George Augusto since 2002, said that she is "bored" by the idea of marriage.

She told Hello: "No, no, no. I don't know if I want children, but the idea of marriage sounds very boring to me. I have to be honest. And no disrespect, because I think marriage is a beautiful institution.

"I am extremely romantic but I think there is that little rebel inside me that is anti-establishment. It's just one more fun thing I can rebel against."

Despite marriage not appealing to her personally, Mendes admitted that she loves to attend other people's weddings.

She explained: "I love going to a wedding. I do this thing - I call it wedding dancing. I don't know what happens to me but I just dance in a way that I've never danced before. I'm the best person to have at your wedding but I just don't ever want to be the actual person getting married."

Eva Mendes says Cameron Diaz would be a perfect co-star

Hollywood actress Eva Mendes says Cameron Diaz would be a perfect co-star to work with because she "takes care of business and doesn't mess around".

"I think Cameron Diaz is a good buddy to have, you know? She takes care of business. And she doesn't mess around. I've seen her in action and she's kind of amazing," imdb.com quoted her as saying.

The 36-year-old actress also confessed she would like to direct more films.

"I just directed my first short film and Christina Ricci is in it. I have an amazing cast. I can't tell you the joy I've found through directing. I would love to do something... I don't know if I'm ready for a feature but that is something that excites me, for sure. I'm into creating a world and a vision."

No Problem With Nudity

She’s always been easy on the eyes, and Eva Mendes isn’t afraid to show off her fit form on the silver screen.

During a recent interview with W magazine, the “We Own the Night” actress confessed she’s not shy about stripping down for the camera.

“I’ve never had a problem with nudity, but I don’t put it out there without a reason. I’m not an exhibitionist. But, honestly, for my art I’ll do anything almost. I’ll go there.”

“I know I walk a fine line between being a respected actor and being what they call a sex symbol. But I’ve never felt objectified. Nothing you see me do is an accident. I might act like it’s an accident but the opposite is true. I’m incredibly calculated when it comes to my career.”

The sighting comes just after Miss Mendes chatted with W magazine about her openness to stripping down for films.

She tells, "I've never had a problem with nudity, but I don’t put it out there without a reason. I'm not an exhibitionist. But, honestly, for my art I'll do anything almost. I'll go there."
