Nicki Minaj hopes to launch own fragrance

Nicki Minaj has expressed hope that she will be able to launch her first signature fragrance later this year.

Stars including Christina Aguilera and Khloe Kardashian have released their own perfumes in the last few months, and the 'Moment 4 Life' singer has now revealed that she plans to join their ranks.

"Hopefully I'll do one this year," Minaj told Allure magazine. "I like scents that feel summery, but have a va-va-voom. I want to smell like a sexy and confident woman, not like candy."

Minaj also cited 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' musician Cyndi Lauper as one of her earliest fashion influences, saying: "I love Cyndi Lauper's style. I remember watching her as a kid and thinking, 'I don't know who this is, but I want to hang out with her'. Her style looked like a piece of art to me."

Earlier this month, it was announced that Minaj will join Britney Spears as a support act for her upcoming 'Femme Fatale' tour. Spears later caused "complete pandemonium" by appearing at a party hosted by her tourmate.

Nicki Minaj has revealed that she considers Kanye West to be one of her mentors.

In an interview with RWD magazine, the rapper confessed that she looks to West for advice on her career and was desperate to work with him on her debut album Pink Friday.

"When it came to me putting my album out, I was like 'I can't have an album without Kanye, he has to be a part of it'," she explained.

"He's become my mentor, he gives me advice, he hits me, he takes random pictures off-line and says 'Oh this is a good picture of you'. He's really into fashion so he's a good person to have a well-rounded conversation with."

Minaj also recalled how her collaboration with West on his track 'Monster' originally came about.

"Well I was great friends with [West's ex-girlfriend] Amber Rose when they were dating and she had recommended me to him for his album and I guess he finally relented," she said.

"One day I got a call from her and she said Kanye wanted me to come down to Hawaii and record for the album. He told me I could pick what I wanted to be on, I heard the beat for 'Monster', I fell in love with it, that's how the 'Monster' verse happened."

Lil Kim slams hip-hop rival Nicki Minaj

Rapper Lil Kim has hit out once again at her rival, hip-hop star Nicki Minaj.

Rapper Nicki Minaj had stepped away from her bisexual image, saying that she's not into dating girls.

"I have the same power as these boys," the New York Post quoted Minaj as telling Rolling Stone about being a female rapper.
