Socialite Paris Hilton's younger brother Barron has been ordered to pay 4.9 million dollars to a gas station attendant he supposedly rammed in 2008, shortly before he was arrested for drunk driving.
A jury ordered Barron, 21, to pay 3 million dollars for pain and suffering and 1.9 million dollars for lost earnings, medical expenses and punitive damages.
Victim Fernando Tellez sued the hotel heir claiming he was bent over a pump in February 2008 when Barron’s Mercedes-Benz ploughed into him, knocked him over and caused injuries that resulted in a limp, severe back pain and the disintegration of his marriage.
Barron was arrested shortly after the incident and pleaded no contest to driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.14, authorities said.
He denied he was behind the wheel when Tellez first filed his lawsuit, Tellez’s attorney Joseph M. Kar told the New York Daily News.
Hilton’s lawyers have indicated they will file a motion for a new trial.

The socialite, who was being interviewed alongside her mother Kathy, added: "I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life and explain it to my children. It's something that changed my life forever and I'll never be able to erase it."

Paris Hilton sued
Paris Hilton is being sued for not returning $60,000 worth of borrowed jewellery
The hotel heiress was given the expensive gems from upmarket jewellers Damiani, but they were stolen as part of a $2.8 million raid at her Los Angeles home in December 2009.
Last year, police recovered all the pieces of jewellery taken from her house, but, according a lawsuit filed by German insurance giant Allianz, Paris has still failed to return the items.
The suit states: "Despite having recovered Damiani's jewellery, Hilton has failed to return all of the jewellery to Damiani as required by the Agreements."
In 2007, Damiani loaned Paris $60,000 of jewellery to wear for public appearances and as part of the deal, she agreed to stash the valuables in a safe or a vault whenever she wasn't wearing it.
The suit claims she did none of that and often left her mansion's front door unlocked and its alarm system turned off.
It stated: "On Friday, December 18, 2009, in the early morning hours, Ms. Hilton left her mansion and attended a party at Bar Delux in Hollywood, California. At some point that night, the Damiani jewellery was placed in Ms. Hilton's closet and not in the safe as required by the Agreements.
"On December 18, 2009, Ms. Hilton left the front door to her mansion unlocked. Like the front door, Ms. Hilton also left the safe unlocked that was supposed to be used to secure the loaned Damiani jewellery."
According to the New York Daily News newspaper, the suit claims a man in a hooded sweatshirt then strolled in through the front door and took off with $2.8 million of jewellery that was "sitting in plain sight" in Paris' closet.
Paris' spokesperson refused to comment.

Paris Hilton facing lawsuit over $60,000 in jewelry
Paris Hilton is holding $60,000 of jewelry that does not belong to her and should give it back, a new lawsuit contends.
German insurer Allianz has sued the celebrity socialite and heiress to the Hilton Hotels fortune, saying she has ignored several attempts to recover the borrowed jewels.
According to an April 6 complaint filed in a New York state court, Hilton borrowed the jewelry in 2007 from the Manhattan jeweler Damiani, promising to store it in a safe or vault when she was not using it.
But Allianz said the gems sat unguarded on a closet shelf in Hilton's unlocked Los Angeles mansion when they and some $2.7 million worth of other jewelry were stolen in a Dec. 19, 2008, burglary while Hilton attended a Hollywood party.
Allianz said Los Angeles police found and returned the jewelry to Hilton after it had already paid Damiani's claim under an insurance policy.
It said it began asking Hilton and two eponymously named companies she controls to return the jewelry, but that phone calls and email messages have been ignored.
Allianz's lawsuit accuses Hilton of negligence and breach of contract.
A Hilton spokeswoman said the lawsuit was "not based on fact," and that none of Hilton's representatives ever told Allianz that the stolen Damiani jewelry had been returned. "Only costume jewelry was recovered," she said.
The dispute is the latest involving a celebrity and jewelry. Actress Lindsay Lohan is expected to make a court appearance later this month on a charge that she stole a gold necklace from a Los Angeles store in January.

The book contains excerpts from an alleged interview with Hilton back in 1999, with Strauss claiming she made controversial comments about her love life.
But a representative for Hilton is adamant that the socialite never made the remarks featured in the book and she's now consulting her lawyers.
"These allegations are absolutely untrue and ridiculous. We have sent these claims to Miss Hilton's lawyers to respond further. It's another example of someone making false claims for financial gain," said a statement from Hilton's spokesperson.

Paris Hilton: Pregnant?
During the last weekend Paris Hilton was photographed at an event held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, in a dress that made her look a bit strange. Will she pregnant? The news has run through all media. "Paris Hilton is pregnant? Wonder everyone. Me too. Is that after seeing these photos the question looming on everyone's mind?
Paris Hilton can boast of almost never, or simply never, have looked an abdomen with a few extra pounds. However, in Spain, the heir is left photograph showing a slight bulge in her belly. A baby is being formed there?
It would be strange to see Paris Hilton in the role of mother. But it is not impossible. To the photos we may have to start making us the idea of seeing Paris changing diapers with her boyfriend, businessman CY West’s.
If the news is true so that congratulations. If not, congratulations as well. Guess is that Paris do not want a pregnancy now, do you think so?
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie wanted to compensated for the wedding
Paris Hilton was now at the wedding of Nicole Richie invited or not? In any case, it was not answesend and justified their absence by shooting in Las Vegas.Apparently it had received an invitation. Hmm funny only that Nicole Richie knows nothing about. The guest list was looking for the name of Paris Hilton in vain. Although they have spoken but her once so close friendship broke apart long ago.
The ratio of the two can be up to describe it as neutral. Certainly is her old friend Paris Hilton to the current life status envy, because Nicole has just what Paris always wanted and what is not the amount of money can buy for all. Personal happiness! A loving husband, two children and also have a serious image. Professionally, it has managed Nicole Richie! Her clothing collection "House of Harlow" is selling like hot cakes not only, but also earned plenty of praise.
Nicole during their luck with a fairytale wedding topped, Hilton turns the life of Paris continues in a circle and she turned again any trashy reality show for U.S. cable-TV. Really bitter! To compensate for this pre-lived happiness, Paris had to once again urge all to adopt an animal and attacked even in Las Vegas for her much-loved Chihuahua. Pets love nunmal bedingslos and the benefit to us descending from asterisk shameless.

Paris Hilton vs Hair Extension Company
It’s about time that Paris Hilton is involved again in another issue, which this time is between her and the hair extension company that sued her for $35 million due to breach-of-contract. Last August, Hairtech International filed a case against the hotel heiress after claiming that she has breached some terms of her contract with them by wearing hair extensions from a competing company and failing to attend promotional appearances.
Just like the feisty starlet that we all know her to be, Paris has filed a countersuit against the company saying that Hairtech’s claims are nothing but lies and that it is only using her celebrity status as a form of advertisement. She also negated the claims of the company that she intentionally skipped her scheduled appearances because she was currently in jail during those times.
The countersuit she filed came complete with a letter from Chris Volek, a colleague, who claimed that Hairtech have had history before of defrauding victims. Other than this, Paris also claimed that the company failed to pay her $1.7 million and that Hairtech has gone so far as changing the documents which they originally presented to her during the signing.
Paris is demanding a $2.1 million for damages, approximately $400,000 for attorney fees and punitive damages, and $500,000 for declaratory relief.
